Disturbi

"Disturbi" is an Italian word that carries a double meaning: it refers both to eating disorders and to signal interference. Disturbi is an information design project that aims to raise awareness of the widespread impact of eating disorders in Italy, where the lack of specialized treatment facilities often prevents people from receiving the care they need. Ultimately, it serves as a call to action. To communicate this issue effectively, a series of illustrations, data visualizations, and animations were developed to make complex information accessible to a broader audience. The project combines factual data with visual storytelling to create a stronger emotional connection with viewers. The narrative strategy is built around a sense of urgency. By drawing a parallel between eating disorders and a progressively deteriorating signal, one that people tend to ignore until it is too late, the project highlights the consequences of delayed intervention. Through this metaphor, Disturbi encourages viewers to recognize warning signs early while exposing the systemic shortcomings that continue to hinder access to treatment and support.
